I know there are so many options when it comes to a childbirth education course. I was once in your shoes, trying to pick just the right one.
I have always been a firm believer in the power of natural childbirth. I believe that God designed the female body to give birth and that His design is without flaw.
I knew I wanted to have babies, but man, everyone made labor seem like this thing that was wrought with excruciating pain. I knew I didn’t want to have an epidural, but was I going to be strong enough to get through it?
There had to be a better way.
A friend then told me about hypnobirthing. It appeared to be just the thing. So I took a course, practiced most nights, and worked on releasing my fears and anxieties. I won’t go into my entire birth story but what I will say is that it wasn’t 100% pain free like promised. It was an awesome experience and a do-able pain (8 or 9 at its peak) but not pain free.
However, even with a fabulous first birth, it pales in comparison to what God did in my next two births. My pain level never got above a 4 or 5. Moments of quiet focus and deep relaxation along with a deep intensity met with my own spirit of welcoming joy and anticipation.
So, what was the major difference between my first birth and my second birth?
I was able to uncover the lie of painful childbirth and truly trust in the Lord’s perfect design for birth. I had acquired a ton more knowledge about the Biblical Truth when it comes to birth, and not just the science.
